As Native American Heritage Month arrives in November, we want to highlight the Native American presence in Northern Virginia. Learn about the customs and values of the indigenous people of the Potomac region and the contributions they continue to make today! Explore replica tools and jewelry. Practice basic beading techniques and create a beaded charm for a keychain or earrings. Adults. Registration encouraged.

Presented by an interpretive naturalist from Fairfax County's Riverbend Park, which has over 100 archaeological sites with findings from all three indigenous periods. Many tribes have called Virginia their home—the Mattaponi, Pamunkey, Eastern Chickahominy, Rappahannock, Upper Mattaponi, Nansemond, Monacan, Nottoway, Cheroenhaka and Patawomeck among them. This informative program will give you some insight into the way they lived.
